Welcome to the WebChamber.com Public Forums

Forums

These forums have been established to provide an environment for public discussion and collaboration on a variety of topics relevant to our members and guests alike.  In order to participate, you need only register for access to our site. We ask that you register for access in order to control spam on our site and also so that we may effectively communicate with you.  No information that you ask to keep private will ever be shared with anyone.  Registering for access is simple, requires only a working email address (which, again, is kept private), and takes almost no time at all.

Each of our Public Forums open with a portal interface similar to this page.  The portal offers a window into what's happening within the forum.  We also provide threaded discussions, forum blogs, live chat, and we'll be adding more and more services as we continue to build our site.

Be sure to check out the other gadgets on this page for a list of the Public Forums and some information on Getting Started with Forums.

Getting Started with Forums
Getting Started

While many people consider online forums simply to be discussion boards where you can read and post messages, the WebChamber.com Public Forums offer much more. Over time, we also plan on introducing many new features to extend the ways in which you can interact.

The Public Forums are available for you to access without having to join as a member of WebChamber.com or even without having to register for site access. However, you do need to register for site access if you want to participate.

  • Discussion Boards
Our Discussion Boards offer you the familiar ability to post messages where everyone can read them. These messages are organized into threads, which is to say that messages are organized in such a way that you can follow the thread of a single conversation. To start a new conversation, you simply start a new thread. If you're reading a thread and want to post your own message, you simply reply, which will append your message to the thread you're currently viewing. You have the opportunity to sign up to receive email notifications of new messages either as they're posted, or in the form of a daily archive. You can also subscribe to specific threads if you only want to be notified of new messages in certain conversations.
  • Live Chat
Where Discussion Boards offer a way to communicate "off-line" (without having to be on-line at the same time as others participating in the conversation), Live Chat offers virtual "rooms" where you can participate in real-time conversations with other users. Live Chat rooms also allow for scheduled on-line events.
  • Blogs
Blogs allow for posting articles of interest in a journal format, where the articles are organized chronologically and by keyword. This is a great way to distribute information. Over time, we will be adding the ability to discuss each article and even to be notified of new articles or discussions.
  • Newsletters
In addition to the main WebChamber.com newsletter, The Chamber Voice, each forum may opt to have its own newsletter when interest warrants it. Newsletters are an excellent way to keep people up-to-date on current events within the forum and/or its related topic. Where subscribing to The Chamber Voice is required, subscribing to each forum's newsletter is entirely optional. Not all forums will have newsletters.
  • Announcements
From time-to-time, events call for a general announcement to spread the word. Announcements are displayed in a summary view on the home page of the forum, as well as in a detail view on the Announcements page. You may also subscribe to be notified via email when a new announcement is released.
  • Coming Soon...
    • Wikis - Where everyone is invited to collaborate in authoring articles for general consumption.
    • File Libraries - Where files can be posted for sharing.
    • Image Galleries - Where pictures can be displayed for all to see.
    • And, more...
